GamColor®

The unique system of color and diffusion filters developed by GAM

Originally developed by GAM to deliver colors and diffusions not found in other popular filter ranges, GamColor is filled with unique hues, tints and other light modifiers that lighting designers, film & broadcast professionals and photographers have come to rely on. Originally introduced in the United States, GamColor is now available all around the globe, thanks, in-part, to Rosco’s acquisition of GAM in 2013. GamColor features deep-dyed plastic filters that provide superior color-consistency, heat-resistance and durability when installed in front of hot theatrical and film/TV fixtures.

Deep-Dyed Polyester Base

GamColor filters are manufactured using Rosco’s unique deep-dyed technique. This process begins with a 48” (1.2m) wide roll of clear PET polyester that is passed through a heated dye bath. The bath causes the film to swell, expanding the polymer structure and allowing the dye molecules to penetrate into the base film. As the polymer contracts to its normal form, the dye is trapped below the surface.

Innovative Numbering System

The GamColor system divides the visible spectrum into nine convenient color-sections. It is a circular classification of colors by hue, referencing the primaries, secondaries and important subdivisions. The GamColor swatchbook is arranged according to this system, making it easy to locate any color in a logical manner.

Cinefilters

This range of GamColor filters offers filmmakers and photographer the correction and diffusion filters they need to balance their lighting setups. GAM Cinefilters feature color correction filters such as CTOs and CTBs to change color temperature, Plus and Minus Green filters for balancing to fluorescent, LED and industrial arc-sources, Neutral Density (ND) filters that reduce light-output without shifting the color, and a range of GAMfusion diffusion filters for softening and spreading light.

Naked Cosmetics

GAM Naked Cosmetics are designed to modify and enhance skin tones. These subtle colors are particularly useful for filmmakers and photographers looking to add natural beauty to their talent without affecting the color of the entire scene. By choosing the proper Naked Cosmetic filter to use on the subject, Naked Cosmetics will blend and enhance various skin tones while masking undesirable undertones. These filters are fantastic for reducing blotchy areas and blemishes, reducing post-production and touchup time after the shoot.
