The photos are of Act2 Theatre Company's production of Thorton Wilder's Our Town. The High School production directed by Rob Roy, TD'd by Richard Williams, encompassed a new direction to the show, relocating the setting to the small town of Pinckney, MI in order to raise money for the Pinckney Historic Society. Designed by a High School student, the lighting design was meant to enhance the story and help to make both the plot and moral clear for the audience members. The first picture uses R03 (Dark Bastard Amber) in an attempt to recreate the warmth of the harvest moon, while R80 (Primary Blue) as downward and cyc light to provide cool contrast and bring about the sensation of night. Rosco's Glass Moon Gobo provides the perfect backdrop for the peaceful evening. In the second photo R51 (suprise pink) offers the sensation of warmth after a long rain at Emily's funeral, playing nicely with R64 (Light Steel Blue) that encompases the stage. In the final shot Emily is shown sitting alone in her grave with R64 (Light Steel Blue) shining nearly straight down giving her an eerie and lifeless effect and providing an ending for the show. (Not shown) The show uses R50, R317, and R3220 from strip lights below the cyc to provide realistic sunrises and sunsights, and the show finishes out with Starry Night gobos shown directly above the audiences heads encompassing the theatre in hundreds of beautiful stars helping to totally destroy the fourth wall.
