Weaved throughout the whole piece was a fiery dancing spirit, tormenting the main character and embodying the tension between the worlds of tradition and modernity through a dance technique that blended traditional Korean fan dance with modern dance. We wanted this character to appear as a flame, darting around the stage. As lighting designer, I worked closely with the costume designer and choreographer to create a sense of motion, heat, and vibrance whenever she was onstage. I used low sidelight with R19 from SL and R58 from SR to achieve this.
